Privacy

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics scripts, and loads nothing from anyone else's servers. There are no accounts, no forms, no newsletter, no advertising, and no comment system. Nothing about your visit is sold, rented, or shared with data brokers.

That is not a policy position dressed up for a policy page — it is simply what the site is. Every file it loads comes from this domain. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network inspector.

Two things still involve information about you, and this page explains both.

Server logs

Like every web server, the one hosting this site records each request it receives. Each line contains:

My hosting provider, DreamHost, generates basic visitor statistics from these logs — how many visits, which pages, which referrers. That is the only analytics this site has, and it is produced from records the server has to keep anyway. Nothing is added to your browser, and no identifier follows you to any other site.

Logs rotate and are deleted automatically. I do not archive them, cross-reference them with anything else, or attempt to work out who an individual visitor is.

Email

If you email me at the address in the footer, that message and your address sit in my mailbox, which is hosted by Google Workspace. I keep correspondence for as long as it is useful, and I do not add anyone to a mailing list.

What this site does not do

This site previously used Google Analytics and loaded its typeface from Google's servers. Both were removed in September 2026. Type is now set in whichever font your device already has.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to a regulator. In Canada that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. Visitors in the UK, EU, and some US states have equivalent rights under their own laws.

In practice this site holds almost nothing that can be linked back to you — an IP address in a log file that ages out on its own. If you think otherwise, email me and I will look into it.

Changes

If what this site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date below is updated.
